My history with Welbedacht spans a considerable amount of time.  I first met with Marius in individual sessions – during which he suggested I join in the full 24 day Rehabilitation Programme.

I thought my way was better – until such a time realised that I cannot do this on my own.  I needed help.

And that help just could not just come from my loved one.  Even though they supported me, tried to assist and motivate – it just had no impact on my overall way of life and continuous journey deeper into compulsive addiction.

It was at Welbedacht that I found people who would care and love me until I could love myself again.  The daily programme focusing on all over recovery.  Not just overcoming addiction – but to be able to cope better in all aspects of life.

Being part of a group likeminded people, the interaction between patients proved to the very helpful to my recovery as well.  As I was able to engage with people in the same environment, for the same reasons and share our journeys, fears and hope.

In aftercare, once a week after leaving the Rehabilitation programme, I was able to stay focused on the new way of life I have chosen for myself.  I can reconnect with friends as well as the staff of Welbedacht that are still concerned with my personal wellbeing after completion of the programme.

If ever I am in doubt, my point of reconnection is Welbedacht.  As I cannot do this on my own.

I need to be reminded of where I came from but also of what I have learnt from a team of professional, caring individuals – who’s focus is always to help to help myself.

Without Welbedacht, I would not be in the better life I am enjoying now – every day!.
